‍In 1979 the Association Committee took the bold decision, at a meeting above the White Bear pub, to buy the main portion of the present club buildings at 48 Beckett Road, Doncaster.

Our early members put their own time and toil into renovating the building; and constructing the solid bar that still stands today. They then took on the day to day running of the club.

Membership grew to 150 Ukrainian, and 100 non-Ukrainian members, and proved to be a successful venture. Its main aim was to provide a cultural and social centre for Ukrainians, and the wider community in the area, as it still does today.

Our Ukrainian centre hosts weddings, festivals, visits by Ambassadors and Mayors, Ukrainian touring sports teams, dance, opera and music troupes; and has been extended over the years to incorporate a stage, changing facilities and an upstairs Snug lounge.

Today the Ukrainian Centre is managed by a committee of second and third generation Ukrainians in Doncaster, all of whom are relations of our founding members.

Our centre is open weekly, hosting events for displaced Ukrainians, sponsors and existing local communities. The Centre is also the home of the annual Doncaster Folk Festival and the Doncaster Roots Music Club, and is also used weekly by the German Society and theatre group 'The Rep' (Doncaster Amature Drama Group).
