The following is an appeal issued by Ukraine Charity:

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Ukraine Charity would like to take this opportunity to ask for your support in raising funds to help acquire a very much needed blood separator to treat children with leukemia.

In countries such as the USA where modern medication and equipment are available, the success rate of treating leukemia reaches 94%. In Ukraine this number is only 47%. Hundreds of children are dying annually in Ukraine as they cannot access the same treatment. There is only one hospital in Ukraine where children’s survival chances increase – Kyiv Haematology Centre for Children (part of OKHMATDYT National Children’s Hospital). At any time there are around 65-70 little inpatients, but the Centre is desperately short of drugs and medical equipment. Without effective equipment to prepare blood for transfusions, many children will not survive.

Ukraine Charity is grateful to Svitlana Muzychenko, a Ukrainian professional living in the UK, who is leading this fundraising initiative. So far more than 56% (£9K) of the total amount needed (£16K) has been raised.

We would kindly encourage you to help us reach our fundraising goal. No amount is too small and every donation is welcome. You are welcome to contribute to this project via:

Sincerely yours,

Ukraine Charity Team
