The very talented young Ukrainian sculptor, Yulia Podolska, visited the AUGB’s Head Office earlier today and gave a lengthy interview for Dumka (see next issue).

Yulia studied art and classical sculpture at the Kyiv Academy of Fine Art from where she graduated with Masters Degrees in both sculpture and conservation. She is now based in the UK producing sculptural works in mixed media and is currently working on the production of a series of full size marble female nudes and portraits based on shapes in the natural environment.
At the end of June this year she won third place at the prestigious Society of Women Artists Awards, which has a 165 year old unique history dedicated to promoting art by women. The Annual Exhibition held at the celebrated Mall Galleries in London showcases a stunning and eclectic mix of artwork in all media. The Society encourages variety and versatility and features some of the finest contemporary women artists from all over the world, thus sustaining a reputation for excellence.

Yulia received her award from HRH Princess Michael of Kent in the category “BRONZE AGE [YOUNG] SCULPTOR AWARD” for her bronze sculpture entitled “Pregnant Woman”.

Whilst at AUGB Head Office, she met with Dumka editor Oleksa Semenchenko, AUGB CEO Fedir Kurlak and Shevchenko Library & Archive Curator Ludmila Pekarska.
