UKRAINE'S INDEPENDENCE DAY - AUGB CHAIR 30TH ANNIVERSARY ADDRESS

24.08.21

The Chair of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB), Petro Rewko, has delivered a message of greeting and support to the Ukrainian nation on the 30th Anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

He notes that with every passing year, the significance of the Independence Day has deepened. Ukrainians worldwide have consistently supported the aspirations of Ukraine for a democratic and more prosperous future.

However, “today, we cannot ignore the fact that we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of independence with reduced territory - without Crimea, which was annexed by Russia, and through the armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine, where the military and civilian population continue to die for the eighth year running.”

Mr Rewko calls on Ukrainians everywhere to actively continue to work together and overcome all obstacles for the betterment and success of our ancestral homeland, Ukraine.

The full text of the speech (in Ukrainian) can be accessed here and a video recording of the address can be viewed here.
