FOREIGN SECRETARY STATEMENT ON THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ILLEGAL ANNEXATION OF CRIMEA

UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt today issued a strongly worded statement condemning Russia for its illegal annexation of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, its unacceptable behaviour in furthering the conflict it initiated in Eastern Ukraine, its illegal construction of a bridge connecting mainland Russia and Crimea and its relentless attempts to monopolize the Kerch strait. He has called on Russia to release all Ukrainian political prisoners, including the 24 Ukrainian servicemen detained while lawfully attempting to sail through the Kerch Strait last November. “The UK, along with our EU and G7 partners, remains unwavering in our support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Crimea is Ukraine”.
