AUGB CALLS ON MINISTER TO CLARIFY STANCE ON HOLODOMOR

15.11.17

Following on from last week’s Holodomor Debate in Parliament, the AUGB yesterday sent a letter to the Minister of State for International Development and the Middle East at the FCO, Alistair Burt MP calling on him to:

1) substantiate which court in the world, in the opinion of HMG, would be deemed to be sufficiently neutral, qualified and in a position to give judicial consideration to the question of whether the Holodomor was or was not genocide;

2) clarify who the parties to such a court case should be;

3) clarify which international body HMG is prepared to approach to instigate such a judicial process so that this does not remain a case of “the least said the soonest mended”, but that the matter may finally be addressed and not shelved until the next Parliamentary debate or Question in the House on the Holodomor; and

4) direct a comprehensive review of the UK National Curriculum in schools in all matters concerning the Stalin era, especially with regard to the Ukrainian Holodomor of 1932-33.
