NEW APOSTOLIC ADMINISTRATOR FOR UKRAINIAN CATHOLICS IN GREAT BRITAIN

The Vatican  announced today that Pope Benedict XVI has ratified Bishop Hlib Lonchyna as the new Apostolic Administrator for Ukrainian Catholics in Great Britain. 

The Ukrainian Catholic community in this country has been without a bishop since February 2006.

Bishop Lonchyna was ordained a priest on 3 July 1977 and consecrated as bishop on 23 February 2002.

The date of his official installment as Apostolic Administrator is yet to be announced.

Commenting on the new appointment, AUGB President Zenko Lastowiecki said that the Association of Ukrainians is delighted by the news, wishes Bishop Lonchyna well in his new post and looks forward to many years of closely working together with him.
