Celebrations as Shevchenko equalises against England

Ukraine succumbed to a late 85th minute goal by John Terry to lose 2-1 against England's all-stars at Wembley tonight.  A Peter Crouch goal in the 29th minute separated the sides at half time.   Tymoshchuk was unlucky not to have equalised with his long drive from outside the box which rebounded off David James.

England were kept at bay by Ukraine's clever play.  Shevchenko came on as a substitute early in the 2nd half replacing Voronin and pulled Ukraine level with just 16 minutes remaining.  But Terry had the last word by slipping in his sixth international goal to reinforce England's lead at the top of Group 6 with 5 wins out of 5 matches.

Ukraine's fans deserve a special mention for their outstanding support.  When 80-odd thousand mightily relieved England fans at Wembley chant: "you're not singing any more..." (but only after 85 minutes!), it means you've made an impact folks!!!

Ukraine's next match is a crucial away tie against Croatia on 6 June.
