Obama/Yanukovych

During a short meeting at the nuclear security summit in Seoul, President Obama raised with President Yanukovych the USA's concerns about the Yuliya Tymoshenko case.

At a conference in Washington, White House spokesman Daniel Russell gave more details about the meeting. He said that the USA continued to be concerned about arrests of political opponents and the integrity of the judicial system, referring to it as selective justice.

However, the USA will continue to develop strategic partnerships with Ukraine in various areas and considers that strengthening ties between the two countries will have significant benefits to both. The White House is watching with particular interest Ukraine's progress towards the Association Agreement with the EU.
