LONDON 2012 - MEETING WITH UKRAINE'S NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE

Representatives of several Ukrainian organisations in this country, including the AUGB, attended a meeting with representatives of Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) held yesterday at the Embassy of Ukraine. 

The NOC’s Volodymyr Herashchenko (General Secretary), Natalia Kovalenko (Executive Director) and Oleksander Yakovlev (Deputy Executive Director) presented the following principle objectives arising from a Memorandum of Cooperation signed by Ukraine’s NOC and the Sports Committee of the Ukrainian World Congress in relation to the London 2012 Olympic Games:

  • To organise a Ukrainian Olympic House for the duration of the Games which both Ukraine’s Olympic team, trainers, guests and supporters alike can use as a base. 
  • Hold a programme of various events, press conferences/meetings and have cafe facilities available at the Ukrainian Olympic House.
  • Generate support for the Ukrainian Olympic team.
  • Secure transport arrangements for guests of the NOC through the assistance of volunteers.

The meeting was chaired by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UK, Volodymyr Khandogiy. 

The AUGB was represented by it First Deputy President and CEO, Iryna Terlecky and Fedir Kurlak respectively.

A separate meeting will be held on Tuesday evening with the Chair of Ukraine’s Paralympic Committee, Valeriy Sushkevych.
