UKRAINIAN CHRISTMAS IN THE NORTH-WEST

Ukrainians in the North West saw another successful Christmas Concert at the AUGB Bolton Community Hall yesterday evening. The concert was organised by AUGB Manchester Branch with great support from the locality to make it a memorable occasion. 

manchester-christmas-2011-1.jpgA host of distinguished guests (including the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Lord Mayor of Manchester, Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, Mayor and Mayoress of Salford, Civic Mayor and Consort of Tameside, Brigadier Ross and local parish priests) were entertained to a vibrant programme of Ukrainian music and dance performed by a variety of groups, including the Ukrainian Saturday School.

manchester-christmas-2011-2.jpgDuring a reception after the concert, the Lord Mayor of Manchester made a special fundraising Appeal to help with the build of a new Community Hall in Manchester.

The Christmas concert has become annual event and its organisers and the community were complemented on their work and endeavours to preserve the culture and traditions of their ancestors.
