AMBASSADOR'S BLOG - HOW BRITAIN IS HELPING DEVELOP THE HEART OF UKRAINE

Many people (including me) like to follow the progress of large construction projects.  So perhaps it's not surprising that when I hold an event at the residence to present the Cherkassy Waterfront Development and City Regeneration Project, I am delighted to welcome a host of senior visitors including the Ukrainian Minister of the Economy, the Governor of Cherkassy oblast and the city Mayor.

I blogged recently about the importance of professional and consultancy services in helping to realise Ukraine's potential.  So it's good to see working on the proposed regeneration project in Cherkassy several UK companies including architects, engineers and project managers.  Their presentation, including proposed new islands on reclaimed land in the Kremenchuk reservoir and new business, residential and leisure districts, is ambitious and exciting and designed to help establish Cherkassy as a leading international centre of learning, creativity and transport.  I visited a charity project in Cherkassy last year; I look forward to returning to the city in future years to see how the new project is getting on.
