UWC REPRESENTATIVES MEET WITH PRESIDENT YANUKOVYCH

The President and General Secretary of the Ukrainian World Congress held a meeting on Monday with the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Costantin Hryshchenko, and with the Deputy Head of the President's Administration, Anna Herman.

During the meeting Viktor Yanukovych said that he was keen to meet with representatives of the Ukrainian World Congress and wanted to hear the opinions of the Ukrainian diaspora.

UWC President Ewhen Czolij handed V. Yanukovych a “Memorandum on important issues concerning Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora”,   This included the key items raised during the meeting:  past cooperation between the UWC and Ukraine, Ukraine’s control over key energy resources, the Black Sea Fleet, EU and NATO, second state language, human rights and civil liberties in Ukraine, Holodomor 1932-33, memorials to Stalin, abuse of human and national rights towards Ukrainians living in the RF, Stepan Bandera and the PACE resolution.

President Yanukovych said that he would provide an official response to all of the issues raised.
