The Association of Ukrainians has today sent a letter to the Polish Ambassador in London, Mrs Barbara Tuge-Erecińska, expressing deepest condolences to the Polish nation as it tries to come to terms with the horrific plane crash in Smolensk on Saturday.

In an equally solemn letter written to the Rector of The Polish Catholic Mission in England and Wales, Mgr Stefan Wylężek, deepest sympathies were also conveyed to the entire Polish community in this country...

Both letters ended with the words:  “May the memory of all those killed... and the memory of those that they were travelling to commemorate, never be forgotten!  Grant them, Lord, Eternal Rest, and give strength to the People of Poland at this particularly difficult hour of need!"

Wieczny odpoczynek!  Вічная пам'ять!
