The Holodomor torch was received by the Lord Provost of Edinburgh in the very grand and appropriately named European room at the City Chambers.

Amongst the local Ukrainian Community present were invited guests Cardinal Keith O'Brien, The Consul General of Ukraine in Edinburgh Bohdan Yaremenko, several Edinburgh City Councillors and guests from the world of art and business.

The Ceremony began with Cllr Stefan Tymkewycz, Chairman of AUGB Edinburgh Branch, receiving the Torch on behalf of the Ukrainian Community in Scotland from Bohdan Ratycz, Chairman of the UK Torch Committee.  There followed a blessing by Father Lubomyr Pidluskyj and then some moving speeches from the Lord Provost, Cardinal O'Brien, the Consul General, and Askold Lozynskyj, the President of Ukrainian World Congress.

After the formal proceedings and speeches were concluded the audience was then privileged to watch the first public viewing of the film 'Holodomor - Portrait of Evil', which featured the dramatic and moving recital composed and performed by Dmytro Morykit.
