Members of AUGB Manchester Branch committee met with Mr Leigh Turner, the British Ambassador to Ukraine, on Thursday 18 March 2010.  The Ambassador had specifically requested to meet with local officers of AUGB Manchester Branch, while he was in Manchester.

The meeting took place at the Ukrainian Centre.  During his brief stay, the Ambassador was shown around the premises, informed about the activities that take place at the centre, as well as about the plans to rebuild the hall.

The Ambassador enjoyed a discussion with the AUGB Manchester Chairman, Volodymyr Szlachetko, and committee members Yurko Babchuk, Bob Sopel, Bohdan Ratycz and Roman Panas, regarding his visit to Manchester generally, as well as the current situation in Ukraine and presidential issues.

Before leaving to attend the next engagement in his busy schedule, the Ambassador visited the Organisation of Ukrainian Women’s Museum based in the Centre, which was kindly opened by Mrs Olya Ratycz.
