AUGB CALLS ON UK GOVERNMENT AND POLITICAL PARTIES "TO MAINTAIN AND INCREASE PRESSURE ON RUSSIA"

28.09.15

The AUGB has written to the leaders of the main political parties in the UK voicing its anger at the appearance of Vladimir Putin at the UN summit.

The letter urges the Government and all parties "to maintain and increase pressure on Russia, so that European security can be strengthened through peace and democracy in Ukraine."

"Russia’s continuing power of veto [at the UN] effectively allows President Putin the freedom to behave as Hilter did, violating the territorial integrity of independent states, waging war in Europe, and using a flawed legal system to silence opposition and pervert real justice.

"It is quite clear that without strong and continuing international sanctions and diplomatic pressure, Russia will have no interest in implementing the Minsk Agreement to stop the war it is waging in Eastern Ukraine, will continue to pervert the judicial system against Ukrainian citizens for its own propaganda purposes, and will manipulate the UN and international agreements – all of which will make the world a much more dangerous place."
