The BBC World Service has announced that Dima Kostenko, producer with BBC Learning English, died on 7 December.

Dima worked for the BBC for 17 years, starting in 1992. He joined the BBC as a producer with BBC Ukrainian, going on to work in Radio & Music Factual Production. He became a producer with BBC Learning English, making content for the website, as well as radio programmes, which was ground-breaking for a non-native English speaker.

Dima was a much loved and popular colleague, a brilliant producer and an excellent linguist.

Dima was also well-known in the London Ukrainian community and was an active parishioner of the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral.

The BBC, the Consistory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral and the Ukrainian community extend their condolences to Dima's partner, family and friends.
