AUGB LETTERS TO PM AND FOREIGN SECRETARY

26.01.15

The AUGB has written to PM David Cameron today urging the UK to press EU Foreign Ministers to take immediate steps:

  1. To internationally recognise the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk "People’s Repubics” as terrorist organisations
  2. To provide Ukraine with defensive capabilities to prevail against relentless terrorist attacks
  3. To unequivocally demand the removal of all Russian troops and armaments from Ukrainian Sovereign territory
  4. To implement further sanctions against the Russian Federation, to exclude it from the SWIFT banking system and to place a immediate temporary visa ban on all Russian nationals seeking to travel to the West
  5. To review the Russian Federation’s position on the UN Security Council vis-à-vis the derogation of its constitutional responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security and to move for the immediate suspension of the Russian Federation from the UN Security Council.
  6. To initiate the introduction of a UN Peacekeeping force in the regions affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
The email was sent to the PM earlier today and coincided with a lengthier letter sent simultaneously to the Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond.
