AUGB. A petition calling for sanctions against Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych and all those responsible for violations of Human Rights in Ukraine was delivered to 10 Downing Street this afternoon by representatives of the London Euromaidan Working Group who were accompanied by four UK MP's.

Several hundred demonstrators had gathered opposite the entrance to Downing Street in the afternoon to voice their support for protesters in Ukraine.

Speaking to the assembled group afterwards, Chair of the All-Party British Ukrainian Parliamentary Group John Wittingdale MP said that events of the past few weeks in Ukraine were "unacceptable" and that MP's were not prepared to stand by and ignore the violence that has been taking place.

Stephen Pound MP said that today's crisis in Ukraine was "about the sacred issue of democracy" while Jim Dowd MP added that "we stand with the Ukrainian people not only for freedom, not only for democracy, but also for justice which the Ukrainian people deserve no less". Huddersfield MP Jason McCartney said that he had stood for parliament to stand for justice, freedom and democracy and that today's gathering was a reaffirmation of those beliefs.
