AUGB IN TALKS OVER TV PROGRAMME

London
28.10.09

Flame Television's Assistant Producer, Mandeep Dillon, of the TV programme "Heir Hunters", which is screened on BBC1, met yesterday with AUGB CEO Fedir Kurlak and the SHevchenko & Archive Curator, Dr Ludmila Pekarska.

Whilst we are unable to release full details of the discussions that took place we can say that Flame Television are in the process of making a programme about a Ukrainian man who died in Cardiff  last year and who in all likelihood lived through the horrors of the Holodomor.  A firm of probate researchers have been able to trace the man's sister in Ukraine and this has prompted the TV company to look into the issue of the Holodomor and the plight of Ukraine and Ukrainians during the Second World War.

The Shevchenko Library & Archive will endeavour to assist with materials and we will keep you posted as and when the programme is ready for screening.
