Ukrainian Supreme Council (parliament) speaker Volodymyr Rybak has officially confirmed that MPs Davyd Zhvaniya and Inna Bohoslovska, have quit the pro-government Party of Regions faction.

“According to notifications from, Davyd Zhvaniya and Inna Bohoslovska, they have left the faction," Rybak was quoted as saying at the plenary session on 3 December.

The Party of Regions faction, the largest faction in the Ukrainian Parliament and currently comprises of 205 members.

In a separate report at 1156 gmt, Interfax-Ukraine said Zhvaniya had failed to take part in the no-confidence vote in the Ukrainian government on 3 December.

Zhvaniya insists that he voted no confidence in the Government, but that his vote was not counted, UNIAN news Agency reported at 1231 gmt.

The report quoted the parliamentary press service as saying that Zhvaniya had asked Rybak to rectify the situation and count his vote.

Zhvaniya also addressed the parliamentary technical service asking to explain why his vote was not counted. "It is very strange that the (voting) card on one of the most active proponents of the cabinet's dismissal failed to work," Zhvaniya was quoted as saying.

A total of 186 MPs out of the 338 present at the session voted no confidence in the Ukrainian government on 3 December, UNIAN reported, adding that Bohoslovska supported the motion. The motion fell about 40 votes short of the required majority, and was repealed.
