SILVER MEDAL FOR ALEXEJ GORLATCH

Playing Beethoven's Concerto no. 5 in E flat major, op. 73 Emperor, the talented young Ukrainian musician, Alexej Gorlatch, won the silver medal in this year's final of the prestigious Leeds Pianoforte Competition which was held at Leeds Town Hall over the weekend.

This is a fantastic achievement and our congratulations go to him and his tutors.

21 year old Alexej started studying piano with E.G.Georgiew in Passau. At the age of 12 he became a young student at the University of Arts in Berlin with Prof. M.Hughes. Since 2003 he has been studying at the University of Music and Drama in Hannover with Prof. K.-H.Kämmerling.

Amongst other achievements, he has won First Prizes at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition (2006), the International August-Everding Competition (2006), the National German Music Competition (2008) and the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition for Debut Recital and Best Performance of a Commissioned Piece (2009).
