FIRTASH DONATES $2.5 MILLION TOWARDS HOLODOMOR MEMORIAL IN WASHINGTON

08.10.13

Zakordonna Gazette has reported today that in addition to funding the Ukraine Days in the UK, Dmytro Firtash has donated $2.5 towards the Holodomor Memorial in Washington.

Mr Firtash said: "The US National Committee for the Recognition of the 1932-33 Holodomor as Genocide plays a key role to ensure that people throughout the world are aware about the Holodomor. Thanks to the work of (this) Committee (and) the efforts of many dedicated people, a Memorial will appear in Washington. It will stand as a reminder to present and future generations about a tragic era in Ukraine's history. Many Ukrainians, who lived through the famine, emigrated to the USA.  This country became their home.  The Memorial to the victims of the Holodomor is a respectful tribute to this great country, which opened its doors to a large number of Ukrainians.  Their children - our countrymen - are a great and valuable part of American society."
