A team of British and Ukrainian archeologists has discovered what is thought to be evidence of the largest Trypillian settlement in Europe, in a village in Kirovohrad in Ukraine.

The settlement, which is thought to be around 6000 years old, includes evidence of village dwellings, a place of worship and an altar - the latter a unique find. The Ukrainian government says that the site will be given protected status.
